You can easily transform old Easter baskets into pretty flower girl containers for your wedding.

Too many Easter baskets get filled with goodies then just tossed into the garbage every year. Put an old basket to good use and keep it out of the landfill. So many of them are absolutely adorable just the way they are, you might not have to do much to make them wedding worthy.

You can easily transform an old easter basket into a wedding worthy flower girl container perfect for your one of a kind wedding. With a little bit of creativity and minimal effort you can easily have a very unique flower girl basket.

Supplies Needed:

  • An old Easter basket, any type will do as long as you like it. It doesn't even have to be your typical basket, it can be a pail or another container as long as it has a handle
  • Ribbon in your choice of colors
  • Flowers if you want to add them
  • Lace, almost always a wedding must have, especially for baskets
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks, a DIY crafter's best friend
  • Scissors

Green Supply Options

  • The basket is being reused and given new life, you are being green by keeping it out of the landfill
  • If you really want to go green you can use natural, organic, or biodegradable ribbon
  • If using lace and you want a greener option consider organic or vintage lace

Instructions:

  1. You may get lucky and find the cutest Easter basket ever that happens to match your color scheme and decide not to do anything with it. If that happens, cool. If not start out by cleaning the basket. Make sure there’s no left over candy or Easter grass stuck in it.
  2. Envision what you want it to look like. Lacy? Flowing ribbons? Beads? Maybe some ivy and flowers? Maybe a combination of everything.
  3. If you want to wrap the handle do that first. Start at one end and start twisting dabbing just a small bit of hot glue on the underside of the handle at each interval where the ribbon will wrap.
  4. Next add your lace (if that’s your thing). Start at the edge of one handle and start with a small bead of hot glue then work your way all around a little at a time (don’t get ahead of yourself with the hot glue or it will dry before you get the lace to it) until you get to the other handle.
  5. Cut your lace to match up with the other end and glue down.
  6. Now choose what else to do. You can leave it as is or add ivy, flowers, beads or whatever else you want.

It is your wedding and your basket. Make it pretty, make it funky, make it you. It’s easy to add anything you want, just use the glue gun to attach everything. Easter basket transformations can be easy, fun and the results are fabulously unique.
